09 Dec Year 5 trip to St Michael’s Church
Fr Ian Booth was very impressed with how Year 5 behaved in and around the church. He spoke to us about the Christmas story, why it is a special time for Christians and the different seasons that Christianity has. Dylan was chosen to light the candles on the advent wreath! We also learnt that the pictures on the windows of a church is called a poor person’s bible because in the past people did not go to school unless they were really rich. The pictures on the windows would help to tell stories about Jesus to people that could not read. The children also asked lots of impressive questions about God and Jesus and made personal links to other religions. Fr Ian also said that the children are a credit to the staff at Alexandra and he is more than willing to have us again at Easter.
